The Interreg project is a collaborative project between Østersund municipality, Nidaros Pilgrimsgård and Pilegrimssenter Stiklestad. The project will make visible and make accessible the storytelling around our common cultural heritage in the border areas. It will also contribute to upgrading infrastructure, such as marking and physical trail network and accommodation capacity along the St. Olavsleden from Sundsvall to Trondheim.

The project will also strengthen the international cross-border cooperation between the region in the "Nordic Green Belt" and contribute to the hosts on each side of the link gaining greater knowledge of each other. The project has a particular focus on motivating increased accommodation capacity along St. Olavsleden, and helping entrepreneurs on both sides of the border to establish new accommodation and expand accommodation capacity.

The project has its own activities linked to the universal adaptation of some of the sections and strengthening work with sustainability perspectives throughout the link network from coast to coast. The project is supported by Interreg Norway-Sweden and Trondheim municipality, Østersund municipality, Nidaros Pilegrimsgård, Stiklestad Pilegrimssenter, Verdal municipality, Levanger municipality, Malvik municipality, Frosta municipality.
